Recent Changes to the Access to Public Records Act - Food For Thought (in-person)
Additional Information:
The 2012 Rhode Island Legislature’s update of the Access to Public Records Act (APRA) represents the first major change in 14 years. At this session, learn about changes to the exemptions, increased penalties for noncompliance, new procedures for providing access and estimating costs, and new training and certification requirements for staff who grant or deny public records requests. Presenters include a House bill sponsor, a representative of the Attorney General’s office, and a compliance officer. This information is timely for public information officers and the lawyers who advise them in Rhode Islands’ state and local governments, state agencies, and quasi-public bodies.

Note: This seminar does not qualify as the designated certification training.
