Social Security Disability: Just the Basics - IN PERSON
Additional Information:
This seminar will present information about Social Security disability law. The difference between Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits will be discussed, as well as the different eligibility requirements and benefits associated with each program.

Information will be provided regarding the application process, the appeals process (initial, reconsideration, hearing, etc.) and the definition of disability. The presenter will set forth and discuss the five-step sequential analysis used throughout the Social Security Administration to determine eligibility for disability benefits. Working while applying for disability benefits or after being approved to receive them has always been a thorny issue which will be explored in the seminar. Drug addiction and alcoholism is, unfortunately, a pervasive problem in our society and the issue of "dual diagnoses" and its effect on a disability claim will also be discussed.
