The Current State of Rhode Island Liquor Liability Law - IN PERSON
Additional Information:
This presentation will discuss the current state of liquor liability or "Dramshop" law in Rhode Island.

It will include an examination of the elements of the Rhode Island Liquor Liability Act, codified at R.I.G.L. §3-14-1, et. seq., as well as an overview of the pertinent case history regarding liquor liability claims. Evidentiary issues will be discussed as they pertain to proving and defending claims under the Act. The breadth of Rhode Island’s law will be considered in light of recent Superior Court decisions, and compared with the standards in other states. Finally, the presentation will briefly touch on insurance coverage issues that may arise in the context of liquor liability claims. This will be the first of a two part series on alcohol-related claims. In May of 2018, we will examine the current state of Rhode Island social host law.
