Workers' Compensation Practice in Rhode Island: A Practical Skills Series Seminar

During this program, a panel of experienced litigators and members of the judiciary will take you step by step through a workers’ compensation case, including an overview of e-filing. They will discuss procedures for an initial interview, suggest how to handle the case that doesn’t go to court, and review the special considerations of a trial.

You will receive tips on how to prepare your case, examine documents, and draw up petitions. The panel will discuss the procedures for settling claims and identify factors you must consider in settlement. They will also review settlement of disputed claims and analyze social security considerations. Important case law, both at the Supreme Court and appellate division levels, will be highlighted. The panel will discuss how these cases impact on workers’ compensation and suggest effective strategies for your own cases. They will also discuss how to resolve ethical issues that you may face in a workers’ compensation case.

This seminar is designed for new attorneys or attorneys new to workers’ compensation law, and a unique opportunity to hear from experienced practitioners and members of the judiciary. Whether you are a new or seasoned attorney, you will pick up some helpful hints, practical advice, and insight into the subtleties of practice in Rhode Island.
