Business Organizations

It shall be the duty of this Committee to review and discuss Rhode Island judicial decisions and statutes relating to business and non-profit organizations (in particular, business and non-profit corporations, professional corporations, limited liability companies and general and limited partnerships), and trends of such laws across the nation; review and/or propose legislation relating to business and non-profit organizations (pending approval from RIBA leadership); discuss matters relating to business and non-profit organizations practice; act as a liaison, with approval of the leadership, between the Bar and the Secretary of State's office with respect to matters of interest to the business community; and recommend CLE programs dealing with business and non-profit organizations and their concerns. All committee proposals and recommendations for administrative, policy, or rule changes, or formal positions must be reviewed and approved by the Executive Committee. Any legislative activities must follow the protocol outlined in the Chairpersons' Guide. All RIBA committees are encouraged to report, at least quarterly for publication in the RI Bar Journal, the significant issues and ideas being discussed in its committee.
