05/30/2019 -The Rhode Island Bar Association's 2019 Annual Meeting is on Thursday and Friday, June 13th and 14th, at the Rhode Island Convention Center. The meeting provides attendees with outstanding opportunities to learn, improve your practice, socialize with your colleagues, and fulfill annual CLE requirements with 40 seminars on a variety of pertinent legal topics.

This year, our Thursday morning plenary speaker is Loretta LaRoche, an international stress management expert who embraces the use of humor as a coping mechanism. During her presentation, Ms. LaRoche teaches attendees how to let go of their pessimistic thought processes and practice optimism through the use of humor. Our Friday afternoon plenary presentation by Jack Marshall, D.C. and Massachusetts lawyer, former prosecutor, and nationally recognized legal ethics expert, explores ethical problems and dilemmas using parodies of widely recognized hits from the 70s and 80s.

During our Thursday evening Annual Awards Reception, Bar award winners are lauded for outstanding achievements. During our Friday Annual Meeting Luncheon, the Bar honors members who have achieved 50 years of service in the profession and bestows the Chief Justice Joseph R. Weisberger Judicial Excellence Award. An address on the State of the Rhode Island Judiciary is delivered by Supreme Court Chief Justice Paul A. Suttell, and the Bar welcomes incoming Rhode Island Bar Association President David N. Bazar.
