Continuing Legal Education Program Ideas

Each year the CLE Committee, working with the Association's staff, strives to develop a dynamic and unique calendar of seminars. The Committee’s goal is to instruct and inspire our bar members on a wide variety of topics that are relevant to their practice. We are looking for your ideas and contributions for the 2019-2020 CLE year. We are especially interested in presenting programs on topics and issues of current concern and relevance in your area of practice.

If you would like to submit an idea for an upcoming seminar or you would like to participate as a speaker for a CLE program please click here to fill out and submit a proposal form. Please contact CLE Director Tanya Nieves at 401-421-5740 or if you have any questions.

Judicial Communications Survey

The Bar Association regularly updates a survey listing the preferences of the individual justices with regard to email communication and other contact from members of the Bar. Members may click here to learn more.

Probate Court Listing

The Rhode Island Bar Association regularly updates the Rhode Island Probate Court information, including contact information and advertising deadlines. The listing is provided in a downloadable pdf format. Click here to view the most recent version.

Online Mentoring Program

The Online Attorney Information Resource Center (OAR), available only to Bar members exclusively through the MEMBERS ONLY section of the Bar’s web site, is designed to help Bar members receive timely and direct volunteer Bar member assistance with practice-related questions. OAR provides Bar members with the names, contact information and Bar admission date of volunteer attorneys willing to answer questions concerning particular practice areas based on the volunteer’s professional knowledge and experience. You may add yourself as a volunteer or view the list of volunteers here.

Our Bar Association is proud to offer traditional mentorship opportunities to our members. Our program matches new lawyers, one¬-on¬-one with experienced mentors, in order to assist with law practice management, effective client representation, and career development. If you have any questions about either form of mentoring, or if you would like to be paired with a mentor through our traditional program, please contact Communications Director Kathleen Bridge by email:, or telephone: 401-421-5740.

*As the Rhode Island Bar Association does not and cannot certify attorney expertise in a given practice area, the Bar does not verify any information or advice provided by the Center’s volunteers.

Law Related Education Volunteers

Your Bar Association supports law related education (LRE) for Rhode Island children and adults through three, longstanding programs: Lawyers in the Classroom and Rhode Island Law Day for upper and middle school teachers and students, and the Speakers Bureau for adult organizations. Responding to LRE requests, Bar volunteers are contacted – based on their geographic location and noted areas of legal interest – to determine their interest and availability. If you are interested in serving as a LRE volunteer, please click here to complete the application form. Please contact Member Services Coordinator Erin Cute at 401-421-5740 or if you have any questions.

Rhode Island Bar Journal Articles

Do you have an idea for an article? The Rhode Island Bar Journal is always in need of scholarly discourses and articles, and we also encourage point-counterpoint pieces. For more information on our article selection criteria, please visit the Bar’s website, under News and Bar Journal, and click Bar Journal Homepage.
