Important Bulletin Regarding Member Medical & Dental Benefits & Related Member Meeting on December 11, 2012, 11:30am-1:30pm

12/03/2012 -

We are holding an informational session at the Rhode Island Bar Association (RIBAR) offices at 115 Cedar Street in Providence to review our Association-Sponsored Medical and Dental Insurance programs.  Our brokerage partner, USI Insurance Services, will attend the meeting to discuss changes to the current program and rate structure, as well as to answer any questions you may have. Here are some highlights:

Medical Insurance Renewal

We anticipate that small group renewals will be seeing lower increase then years past.  However, renewals are also specifically rated on age and gender so if your demographics have changed, you may see increases on that basis.

Also, please be aware that each of our member groups has their own unique renewal date.  If you are currently participating in the RIBAR/Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island medical program, you will receive your renewal directly from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island approximately 60 days prior to the renewal date.  We strongly encourage you to reach out to USI Insurance Services’ dedicated Rhode Island Bar Association Team contacts listed below with any questions or concerns. The USI RI office is conveniently located in East Greenwich. USI currently has 13 employee benefits professionals working exclusively on Employee Benefit programs for Rhode Island clients.

·         Amanda Prisco, Senior Benefits Consultant (401) 558.3185

·         Kate Powers, Benefits Consultant & Wellness Coordinator (401)558.3165

·         Mark P. Sweeney, Vice President (401) 558.3161

If you are currently not purchasing your medical coverage through the Association, we encourage you to reach out to Kate, Amanda, or Mark to see what they can do to help simplify the buying process and support you and your participating employees year-round.

Dental Insurance Renewal

We are pleased to report this year’s Delta Dental renewal is in and is very favorable.  USI has negotiated a 5% reduction in overall rates, while increasing the benefit levels to include dependent children to the age of 26, regardless of their student status.

All members participating in the Dental plan renew on February 1st.  The rate decrease and coverage for dependents to age 26 will take effect on February 1st, 2013.

If you are currently not purchasing your dental coverage through the Association, we encourage you to reach out to Kate, Amanda, or Mark at the numbers above for a no-obligation comparison of your current coverage and rate structure.  Our competitive rates combined with an outstanding benefit offering are unique to standard market pricing.  Unlike medical plans where we are prohibited by small group reform from obtaining a discount, dental rates reflect aggressive discounts for our volume and favorable claims experience.

Medicare Products

If you are interested in Medicare Advantage or Medicare Supplement plans, give Kate Powers or Amanda Prisco a call today.  USI is now Medicare Certified with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island.  BCBSRI offers a wide variety of individual and group Medicare Advantage and Supplement plans, some of which include medical, dental, and prescription drugs all in one plan.  We are happy to be able to now offer this to Bar Association members.

Concierge Level Service

Your local USI Insurance Services team is responsible for providing Concierge Level Service to Rhode Island Bar Association members.  Based in East Greenwich, the team is led by Senior Benefits Consultant, Amanda Prisco and Benefits Consultant, Kate Powers.

If you are planning to attend the informational meeting on December 11th, please call the Bar Association offices at 421-5740 to RSVP your intention to attend.
