Support Our Veterans Through the Armed Forces Legal Services Project

11/08/2017 - As members of the Bar, we have the opportunity to "enlist" in the Bar Association's United States Armed Forces Legal Services Project. In remembrance and honor of Veterans Day on November 11, we can pledge to provide legal assistance for those who willingly enlisted to serve our country and defend us all by supporting this important pro bono program.

Weekly, veterans and active personnel from all branches of the military contact the Bar Association's United States Armed Forces Legal Services Project for legal assistance in many areas of civil law. These legal needs may stem from pre/post deployment issues. Also, opportunities arise to help their immediate families. Many military families are faced with legal battles while the head of household is deployed. The project also receives referrals from service-related organizations including the Bristol Veterans Home and Veterans Hospital on behalf of their clients and patients. Please note, in order to be eligible for placement with a volunteer attorney, a client's income must not exceed 250% of the federally established poverty guideline.

Please seriously consider joining and accepting a case today. You may quickly and easily join the Bar's US Armed Forces Legal Services Project online by going to the Bar's website at ribar.com, logging into the Members Only section, and clicking on the link to the US Armed Forces Legal Services Project Sign-Up.
