Confidential Assistance for You and Your Family Members

Your Bar Association is proud to offer you free and confidential help, information, assessment and referral for personal concerns through our Lawyers Helping Lawyers Program. The Association contracts with the Coastline Employee Assistance Program (EAP) which provides professional clinical assessments and facilitates getting appropriate treatment for Bar members and their family members. The professionals at Coastline EAP provide confidential consultation for a wide range of personal concerns including (but not limited to): balancing work and family, child and eldercare, depression, anxiety, domestic violence, aging, grief, career satisfaction, alcohol and substance abuse, and problem gambling. Login to Coastline EAP’s website using the username RIBAR to take advantage of a multitude of resources and free webinars. A particularly helpful 20-minute webinar exploring all that Coastline EAP can offer you, your employees, or your family members is scheduled for Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at 11:00 am. Join the meeting by clicking here on that date and time.

Attorney Directory

Searchable by last name, first name or both, your Bar’s online Attorney Directory serves as an easy means for you to communicate with your colleagues, and for clients and potential clients to connect with you. Attorney Directory contact information may include the Bar member’s name, photograph, law office name, postal address, email address, telephone number, and facsimile number. To update your photograph, send it to Erin Bracken at Photographs must be provided in a jpg format of at least 300 dpi. If you need your photo taken, just tell the front desk the next time you are at the RI Law Center, and we will upload it for you.

SOLACE, an acronym for Support of Lawyers, All Concern Encouraged, allows Bar members to reach out, in a meaningful and compassionate way, to their colleagues. SOLACE communications are through voluntary participation in an email-based network through which Bar members may ask for help or volunteer to assist others with medical or other matters. Issues addressed through SOLACE may range from a need for information about, and assistance with, major medical problems, to recovery from an office fire, and from the need for temporary professional space, to help for an out-of-state family member. Online Mentoring Program
The Online Attorney Information Resource Center (OAR), available only to Bar members exclusively through the MEMBERS ONLY section of the Bar’s web site, is designed to help Bar members receive timely and direct volunteer Bar member assistance with practice-related questions. OAR provides Bar members with the names, contact information and Bar admission date of volunteer attorneys willing to answer questions concerning particular practice areas based on the volunteer’s professional knowledge and experience. You may add yourself as a volunteer or view the list of volunteers here.

*As the Rhode Island Bar Association does not and cannot certify attorney expertise in a given practice area, the Bar does not verify any information or advice provided by the Center’s volunteers.
